Of course the Blue Flag again this year
This year, the International Blue Flag Jury of FEE International in Denmark awarded 181 Blue Flags in the Netherlands, 124 marinas and 57 beaches. For many years now, Harbour Eiland van Maurik has had the 'Blue Flag' quality mark and this year this mark was awarded to us as well. We work hard every day to be able to (continue to) comply with the Blue Flag quality mark and are therefore very proud of the fact that we have been awarded the quality mark again this year.
Safe and clean harbours and beaches
The Blue Flag is the international award given annually to beaches and harbours that are safe, clean and sustainable. In practice, this means that nominees must meet a number of important criteria such as clean (swimming) water, good sanitary facilities and a high level of safety. The Blue Flag is valid for one year: checks are carried out every year to see whether our harbour still meets the requirements.
It is a crowning glory of our work every year that an independent organisation looks at us and considers our harbour worthy of the Blue Flag certification. We invest a lot in a high-quality product where sustainability, nature and the environment are very important to us. The Blue Flag criteria are a good tool for this.
KMVK: QUALITY MARK FOR ENVIRONMENT, SAFETY & QUALITY
With the Blue Flag campaign in the Netherlands, the Stichting Keurmerk Milieu, Veiligheid en Kwaliteit (KMVK) involves governments, entrepreneurs and recreationists in caring for clean and safe water, beautiful nature and a healthy environment and sustainable harbours. For tourists and recreationists, the Blue Flag is the international recognition symbol for safe and clean bathing water, good beaches and clean and safe marinas. The international awarding of Blue Flags is done by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), an independent international environmental organisation.
